Frequently asked questions

Your questions, my answers

The questions I am asked most often during a first call.

Here are some general answers. If you need more, write to me and you will receive a more personal reply.

Before you book

The session in practice

+Do I need to choose the type of consultation in advance?

There is no need. During the first session, we will talk it through and decide together on the best path to follow, as well as the tools needed to address the reason for your visit.

+How many sessions will it take for things to change?

Each session aims to give you something concrete to take away: a new understanding, a tool, an idea you can put into practice right away. Some people see things shift in one or two sessions, others continue because they find a regular space for themselves there. You set the pace, and your only commitment is the session you have just booked.

+Do you work with children and teenagers?

Yes, as well as with pairs, families, business associates and partners.

+Can our sessions be recorded?

Recording the sessions is not permitted. Taking written notes, however, is strongly encouraged, and it also helps you integrate the session.

+I have seen someone else before and did not like talking at length with no interaction. Should I expect the same?

No, the sessions I offer are interactive and dynamic. Except during the energy relaxation period, of course.

+Does my insurance cover the sessions?

I provide naturopathy receipts through an association recognised by all the major insurance companies in Canada. Check with yours to find out whether your plan covers naturopathy.

+Do you offer group meditations or meditation classes?

You can put a group together, and I will be happy to lead it and teach. Write to me for the details and arrangements.

+What happens if I need to cancel or reschedule?

An appointment can be rescheduled or cancelled free of charge up to 72 business hours before the scheduled time, by phone at 1-514-990-2699. Since Sunday is a day of rest, add 24 hours for Monday appointments.

After that, the full fee is due, since the preparation has already begun. If you are unable to travel, the session can be held by teleconsultation rather than cancelled. All the details are on the Secure file opening page.

The professional framework

What I offer, and what I do not

+Do you provide psychological therapy?

No, I am not a psychologist. I am a psychosociologist, with a bachelor's and a master's degree from UQAM, specialising in interpersonal communication and lifestyle guidance.

The difference matters. Psychology deals with what happens inside a person, such as mental health and therapy. Psychosociology works with what happens between people, such as communication, relationships and dynamics.

My tools are coaching, communication, meditation, lifestyle guidance and teaching, all within a deep spiritual perspective rather than a psychological one.

I can refer you to excellent psychologists and psychotherapists whose orientation is compatible with what I offer. Seeing a psychologist alongside our sessions is very worthwhile, and something I fully encourage.

+What is the difference between coaching and psychotherapy?

The difference is major, and a metaphor makes it simple. A hockey coach can coach a player as long as the player is able to skate. If the player has a broken leg, he must first see a doctor. Once back on his feet, he can return to the ice.

Psychotherapy treats deep psychological wounds, trauma and mental disorders. Coaching supports the growth of a functional person who wants to move forward in their life, their relationships and their way of living.

Both roles are essential, complementary and clearly distinct. Just as a doctor is not a coach, a coach is not a doctor.

+My services and Quebec's Bill 21

I offer no consultation in psychology or in psychotherapy. Seeing a psychologist or a psychotherapist alongside our sessions is entirely possible, and beneficial for anyone who can draw on both approaches.

Since we work in two distinct fields that do not overlap, there can be no conflict between the approaches. The spiritual view and the psychological view may sometimes differ in appearance and in angle, without being opposed in their fundamental intention.

The Ordre des psychologues du Québec describes what psychotherapy is and what it is not. My services comply with this framework. Here is a summary.

  • The support session aims to support the person through regular or occasional meetings that allow them to talk about their difficulties. The practitioner may give advice or make recommendations.
  • Supportive intervention aims to maintain and consolidate gains and coping strategies, by focusing on strengths and resources. It involves reassuring, advising and providing information related to the person's condition or to the situation they are living through.
  • Couple and family intervention, Mediation Soul to Soul, aims to promote and support the optimal functioning of the couple or the family, through conversations that often involve all of its members.
  • Education in coaching or in naturopathy aims at learning through information and education, the teaching of knowledge and skills intended to maintain and improve autonomy or health, notably through techniques of stress management, relaxation or self-assertion.
  • Coaching aims to fulfil potential, by developing the talents, resources or skills of a person who is neither in distress nor in suffering, but who has specific needs for personal or professional achievement.
  • Naturopathy aims to look at the individual's lifestyle and to support them with advice and suggestions that promote their health at every level.
