The 7 centres and their balance
Understanding how they work, to regain health and a balanced life.
The human being, a true marvel of sacred alchemy, a complex and very well organised system, can be pictured as seven main energy centres, closely interconnected.
A practice for every day
In almost every consultation, people ask what they can do to improve their physical, emotional or mental condition. Here, drawn from life experience, from various readings and from words of wisdom, are the seven energy centres and the movements or actions that support their balance.
Applied concretely in daily life, they greatly improve physical, emotional and mental health, and so contribute to the feeling of happiness that every human being on this planet is looking for, whatever their religion, their social background or their nationality.
The seven centres and what balances them

The base
It represents the foundations of the being, its bedrock. This centre is associated with the very concrete, physical and material structure of the being. It is represented by the bones, the tendons and the muscular system.
A supple body and a posture finely aligned with the earth's gravity encourage relaxation in any position, and energy then flows through it easily. Movements that build suppleness and muscle tone contribute to the balance of this centre.

The hara, elimination and creation
The elimination system frees the body of processed elements that are of no use to it and could even harm it. Natural, daily elimination is essential. Since physical elimination is directly linked to emotional and mental elimination, people who are tense at this level are often bound up with fears from the past and with things they hold on to and refuse to let go of.
This centre is also associated with the movement of creation and with sexual energy. It is the seat of the creation of life, and the cradle of the creative energy that drives a being toward expression. It is through the direction given to this drive that the being can manifest, and draw deep satisfaction from manifesting themselves, whether by bringing a new being into the world or through artistic, professional or other creations.

The solar plexus, digestion and emotions
The food we give the body is directly linked to the way it functions. A pure and balanced diet encourages the circulation of energy, the dynamic movement of energy, and healthy cells that reproduce in a healthy way.
A heavy diet, full of artificial chemicals, makes the organs of the digestive system spend their energy trying to cleanse themselves and to sort what is good for them from what harms them, while creating waste that will not all be eliminated. Eating too much, even healthy food, can set off the same process. Choosing a healthy, light and mindful diet supports the balance of this centre, and of the others along with it.

The heart and the breath
Calm, deep breathing relaxes the body, the emotions and the thoughts. Breathing that is held back, tight and concentrated in the upper chest constrains every system.
Breathing is the first movement that animates a being at birth and the last one it makes on leaving this plane. Breathing is Life in motion. Healthy, full breathing is essential to the distribution of energy in the body and to its balance. To be present to your breath is to be present to your life.

The throat, centre of expression
This centre is associated not only with speech and sounds, but also with the gestures and actions a being can create in order to express itself. It is at once the receptacle of the energy that comes from the hara and its doorway to the outside world.
The expression of the being is essential. Any reserve or holding back at this level slows the flow of energy, and hinders the natural process inherent in the human being, its creative expression.

The third eye, knowledge
It is associated with acquired knowledge, concrete but also fine and subtle. These two kinds of knowledge are united, and information flows through this channel. There is the raw knowledge that comes from intellectual input, which we know well in our societies, and there is the fine and subtle knowledge that can be received through meditation or contemplation.
Practising meditation every day amounts to pushing back your limits for a moment, touching spaces far wider than the mind, and it brings calm, rest and regeneration to the body. Daily meditation is essential to growth and to transformation. It is through ever more intimate contact with their Universal nature that a being can free themselves from limiting beliefs and interpretations.

The crown, union
The crown represents the ultimate and permanent union with the universe. When we bring our attention to this centre and the other centres are stimulated and in balance, the being can feel, live and vibrate with the sensation of union, of communion, of non-separation from the Universe.
The sensation of union with the Whole can only be reached through a conscious union with what surrounds us, nature, beings and objects. The daily practice of contemplation fosters this sensation of union.
A Being expresses itself
The following text is an example of how the union of the seven centres might show itself in daily life, with awareness and in harmony.
“When I am sitting or standing, I pay attention to my posture, to the state of my muscles. If I notice that I am tense, I relax and breathe consciously. In this way my body naturally realigns itself with gravity, and I free up the energy I was using to tense up or to compensate. I also do a few minutes of stretching every day to keep my muscles supple.
I am in a conscious process of elimination and creation, knowing that when I eat healthy food, I also make elimination easy. In doing so, I let go of old eating habits and old beliefs. I clear my energy channels and my relational channels, and I am more available to meet my creative life force and my true expression.
When I express myself, I do so with full awareness. I know who I am and what I carry within me, because I spent a few minutes in intimate connection with myself on waking, breathing deeply and calmly, and meditating. When the whirlwind of daily activity sweeps me away, I need only take a deep breath, and almost instantly I find again the calm and relaxation I created in the morning.
Having taken a moment to contemplate the magnificent tree in front of my home as I left for work this morning, I feel united with life, and I feel that I am part of this life, of this world and of this universe. I am present to my experience, to my friends, to my family, to my colleagues, and each day a little more happiness dwells within me.
Tomorrow, and on the days that follow, I will once again choose to be present to my Life, because I feel my happiness grow through this practice. And in this way, I contribute to peace on this earth by cultivating peace within myself.”
